General Anil Chauhan  

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan conducted a visit to Suratgarh Military Station in Sriganganagar and Naliya Air Force Station in Gujarat.  

•  
  The post of CDS was created in 2019 on the recommendations of a committee of defence experts headed by Lt General DB Shekatkar.  

• General Bipin Rawat was the first CDS in the country.  

• Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan (retd), former Eastern Army commander and DG of military operations, became India’s second Chief of Defence, marking the first time a retired three-star officer was reinstated at a four-star rank.  

Howard Lutnick  

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick as part of ongoing discussions between India and the United States on a potential trade agreement.  

Howard W. Lutnick is the 41st United States Secretary of Commerce. He also served as Co-Chair of the Trump-Vance Transition Team during President Trump’s 2024 election campaign.
