Ayodhya Has Set a New Guinness World Record by Lighting 22.23 lakh Diyas  

  • Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh has achieved a new Guinness World Record by illuminating 22.23 lakh earthen lamps across 51 ghats during its Deepotsav celebration.  
  • Surpassing the previous record of 17 lakh diyas, this tradition, initiated in 2017, has steadily expanded in magnitude each year.  
  • Although the total number of lit lamps in 2022 exceeded 17 lakhs, the Guinness Book of World Records only recognized those that remained illuminated for five minutes or more, ultimately setting the record at 15,76,955.  
  • The celebration featured a procession showcasing tableaux on diverse themes from the Ramayana, social issues, and government initiatives. 

World Kindness Day 

  • World Kindness Day, marked annually on November 13, is a global celebration dedicated to acknowledging and encouraging acts of kindness.  
  • It serves as a poignant reminder of the profound impact that simple acts of kindness can have on individuals, communities, and the world.  
  • The theme for World Kindness Day 2023, "Be Kind Wherever Possible," underscores the universal importance of kindness that should touch every corner of the world and every aspect of our lives.  
  • The origin of World Kindness Day can be traced back to 1997 when the World Kindness Movement held its first conference in Tokyo, Japan. 

Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar Took Over Command of the Eastern Fleet 

  • Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar assumed command of the Eastern Fleet, the prominent force of the Eastern Naval Command, succeeding Rear Admiral Gurcharan Singh.  
  • This transition occurred during an impressive ceremony conducted at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. 
  • Acknowledged as the Sword Arm of the Eastern Naval Command, the Eastern Fleet holds a pivotal role in protecting maritime interests in the region. 

33rd Conference of the World Organisation for Animal Health 

  • Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, presided over the opening session of the 33rd Conference of the WOAH (World Organization for Animal Health) Regional Commission for Asia and the Pacific in New Delhi.  
  • Various dignitaries, including Dr. L. Murugan, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, were in attendance.  
  • The four-day event is slated to take place from November 13 to 16, 2023. 

 Uttarakhand Becomes the First State in India to Implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) 

  • Uttarakhand is reportedly set to become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. 
  • The government of Uttarakhand is scheduled to hold a special session of its Legislative Assembly in the week following Diwali.  
  • In this session, the Uniform Civil Code bill is expected to be approved, thereby securing its legal standing.
