International Mother Language Day 2024

  • International Mother Language Day is annually observed on 21st February.
  • The day aims are to protect and celebrate the world’s cultural and linguistic heritage and diversity, as well as to create awareness about preserving traditional cultures and languages.
  • The theme of the day 2024 is Multilingual education – a pillar of learning and intergenerational learning.

Khajuraho Dance Festival 2024

  • Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated 50th Khajuraho Dance Festival in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The festival is an annual event organized by the Culture Department through Ustad Alauddin’s Music and Art Academy in Bhopal in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Patan Department and the Archaeological Survey of India.

Shashi Tharoor Awarded France’s Highest Civilian Award

  • Shashi Tharoor has awarded France's highest civilian award Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour).
  • French Senate President Gerard Larcher presented the award for his efforts to strengthen the bond between India and France, his dedication to global peace and his friendship with France.

Dand Patta Becomes the State Weapon of Maharashtra

  • Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced the Dand Patta or gauntlet sword as the state weapon of Maharashtra.
  • It comprises a double-edged sword measuring up to four feet with a gauntlet integrated as a hand guard.
  • It was used widely during the medieval period and Shivaji is depicted with the weapon in several paintings.

Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurated Country’s First Skill India Centre

  • Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the country’s first Skill India Centre (SIC) in Sambalpur, Odisha.
  • The centre aims to provide quality education and skills training, empower the youth, and create a competent workforce for the 21st century.
