Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Celebrates 125 Years of Studying the Sun
- The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), celebrated the 125th anniversary of the renowned Kodaikanal Solar Observatory (KSO) on 1 April 2024.
- This milestone event was dedicated to commemorating the history of KSO, honoring its scientists, and acknowledging its significant contribution to astronomy in India.
- The KSO is home to a digital archive containing 1.2 lakh digitized solar images along with thousands of other daily recordings of the Sun dating back to the early 20th century.
Forbes Billionaires 2024 List
- Forbes, the American business magazine, published its "Forbes World's Billionaires List 2024.
- The Top 200," showcasing 200 Indian individuals, an increase from 169 in the previous year.
- The total wealth of these Indian billionaires is a record $954 billion — up 41 per cent from $675 billion in 2023.
- Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, leads the list in India with a net worth of $116 billion, marking a substantial 39.76% rise from $83 billion the previous year.
- This achievement also places him as the first Asian to join the elite $100 billion club.
- Ambani maintains his rank as the ninth wealthiest individual globally and holds the titles of India's and Asia's wealthiest person.
One Vehicle, One FASTag’ Norm Implemented
- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' policy.
- It is designed to discourage the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or the association of multiple FASTags with a single vehicle.
- This new norm has come into effect from 1st April 2024.
PepsiCo’s Investment in Ujjain
- The upcoming facility in Ujjain will become PepsiCo India's second manufacturing site in the country, dedicated to producing beverage flavors specifically tailored for the Indian market.
- This initiative aligns with PepsiCo's strategy of creating products "In India, for India."
- Currently, PepsiCo operates a similar plant in Channo, Punjab.
Sebi Launches SCORES 2.0
- SCORES 2.0, an enhanced version of the Complaint Redress System (SCORES) by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has been introduced to bolster mechanisms for handling investor complaints.
- This upgraded system incorporates automated routing, supervision by designated authorities, and streamlined processes.
- SEBI Complaint Redress System (SCORES) is an online platform launched in June 2011.
