Why in News
In a major move to empower young girls and advance the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), launched the initiative Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls (NAVYA).
About NAVYA
NAVYA – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls is a joint pilot initiative launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
Key Features
Objective
- A pilot initiative to provide vocational training to adolescent girls aged 16–18 years with at least Class 10 qualification.
- Focuses mainly on non-traditional job roles to expand career opportunities.
Geographic Coverage
- To be implemented in 27 districts across 19 states.
- Includes Aspirational Districts and those from the North-Eastern region, ensuring focus on underserved and vulnerable populations.
Ministry Collaboration
- A joint effort by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
