Why in News?
The Department of Posts (DoP) has released a comprehensive policy document for DHRUVA, a national-level Digital Address Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
What is DHRUVA?
- DHRUVA aims to provide a unique digital address for every home in India.
- It creates a secure digital environment using a geo-coded framework for sharing accurate address information.
Objective: To establish address information management as core public infrastructure, ensuring effective governance, inclusive service delivery, and improved user experience.
Key Components
- Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN)
- A 10-digit alpha-numeric code based on latitude-longitude coordinates, using geospatial data.
- Developed by dividing India into uniform 4x4 meter grids.
- Digital Address Layer
- A user-centric, consent-based system built on DIGIPIN.
- Allows users to create custom address labels linked to their DIGIPIN.
