What is DHRUVA?

  • DHRUVA aims to provide a unique digital address for every home in India.
  • It creates a secure digital environment using a geo-coded framework for sharing accurate address information.

Objective: To establish address information management as core public infrastructure, ensuring effective governance, inclusive service delivery, and improved user experience.

Key Components

  • Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN)
    • A 10-digit alpha-numeric code based on latitude-longitude coordinates, using geospatial data.
    • Developed by dividing India into uniform 4x4 meter grids.
  • Digital Address Layer
    • A user-centric, consent-based system built on DIGIPIN.
    • Allows users to create custom address labels linked to their DIGIPIN.
