Udyog Kranti 

  • The Punjab government launched ‘Punjab Udyog Kranti’, India’s first state-level comprehensive industrial reform to boost investment and ease of doing business. 
  • Introduces 12 major reforms, including 45-day deemed approvals and a FastTrack digital portal. 
  • Features self-certification, colour-coded stamp papers, and a single-window system. 
  • Aims to attract investments, reduce red tape, and ensure faster clearances. 
  • Supports Make in India and promotes job creation at the state level.

Carbon Pricing Report 

  • According to the World Bank’s 2025 report, carbon pricing now covers two-thirds of global GDP, with rapid growth in India, Brazil, and Turkey. 
  • Carbon pricing means making companies pay for the pollution they cause, shifting the cost from the public to the polluters. 
  • There are three main tools: 
    • Emission Trading System (ETS) – companies trade emission limits 
    • Carbon Tax – fixed charge on emissions or fossil fuel use 
    • Carbon Credit Mechanism – buy credits for emission reduction efforts

AviList 

  • AviList is the first unified global checklist of bird species created to support bird conservation efforts. 
  • It replaces the IOC and Clements lists and will be updated annually. 
  • AviList offers the most current and authoritative taxonomy of the world’s birds. 
  • It is a collaborative effort involving BirdLife International, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, American Ornithologists’ Society, and others. 
  • The list includes 11,131 species, 19,879 subspecies, across 2,376 genera, 252 families, and 46 orders.

Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB)  

  • The AAIB has launched an investigation into the recent crash of Air India flight AI-17 (Boeing 787). 
  • Established in 2012 under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, AAIB investigates aircraft accidents and serious incidents in Indian airspace. 
  • Its aim is to prevent future accidents, not assign blame, following the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017.

Black Box 

  • The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) recovered the Black Box from the wreckage of Air India’s Boeing 787 aircraft. 
  • A Black Box has two main parts, 
    • Flight Data Recorder (FDR): Records flight details like speed, altitude, and engine performance. 
    • Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR): Records sounds and conversations inside the cockpit. 

  • Its main purpose is to record important data during flights and help in investigations after plane crashes. 
  • Although called a "Black Box", it is bright orange for easy visibility. 
  • It is made from strong materials like steel or titanium and is kept at the tail of the aircraft, where damage is usually the least during a crash.
