CUET UG 2025: NTA offers retest for Accountancy paper

Exam Updates

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2025 has been in the spotlight this year, particularly due to the Accountancy paper. After receiving multiple complaints from students, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a significant decision: affected candidates will have the option to appear for a re-test (re-examination) for the Accountancy subject. This move has brought relief to many students, but it also comes with important guidelines and deadlines that must be followed carefully.

What Happened?

The CUET UG 2025 exams were conducted for over 15 subjects between May 15 and May 24, with the Accountancy paper held between May 13 and May 16. During this period, several students reported that questions from Unit V were included as mandatory, even though they were supposed to be optional. This was deemed a violation of the exam pattern. Upon investigation, the NTA found these complaints valid and, on May 21, 2025, issued an official notification stating that affected students would be given the option to appear for a re-test.

Who is Eligible for the Re-Test?

Only those students who appeared for the Accountancy paper between May 13 and May 16, 2025, are eligible for the re-test option. The NTA has clarified that this is a voluntary choice—students can decide whether or not to take the re-test

Deadline to Opt for Re-Test

Students must register their consent for the re-test on the official CUET-UG website by 1:00 PM on May 23, 2025.

Two Options for Students

  • If a student chooses not to take the re-test, their original score will be considered final.
  • If a student opts for the re-test, only the new score will be valid, and the previous score will be cancelled—regardless of which score is higher.
  • If a student consents to the re-test but does not appear for it, they will be marked as "absent" and will not receive any score for the subject

Change in Exam Pattern

The NTA has not only announced the re-test but also revised the Accountancy paper pattern. Now, students can choose between Unit V and an optional unit for their questions. This revised pattern is effective from May 22, 2025.

Conclusion

The NTA's decision provides relief to students affected by the Accountancy paper issue. However, it is crucial for students to take this opportunity seriously and make timely, informed decisions. Registering consent on time and preparing for the re-test is now the students' responsibility. This decision not only restores fairness but also offers students another chance to prove themselves.
