25th Edition of Fit India
- Held on 1st June 2025, the Tiranga Cycling Rally paid tribute to India’s armed forces, especially honouring the success of Operation Sindoor, combining fitness with patriotism.
- Over 75,000 cyclists from 5,000+ locations, including strong participation from Jammu & Kashmir regions like Kulgam, Poonch, and Budgam, showcased the national scale of the movement.
- Union Minister Dr. Mandaviya launched the Carbon Credit Tracker on the Fit India App and the Fit India Newsletter during the rally at Major Dhyanchand Stadium, Delhi.
- Actress Sharvari was honoured as the Young Fit India Icon for her contribution to fitness awareness, especially for youth.
NAKSHA Capacity Building Programme
- The second phase of NAKSHA (NAtional geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban HAbitations) will launch on 2nd June 2025, inaugurated by Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Land Resources (DoLR).
- Training will be held at five Centres of Excellence (CoEs):
- LBSNAA: Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie
- YASHADA: Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration, Pune
- ATI: Administrative Training Institute, Mysuru
- MGSIPA: Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh
- NER-CoE: North-East Region Centre of Excellence, Guwahati
- 304 officers from 157 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will receive training in geospatial technology for urban land surveys.
- Modules include Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Electronic Total Station (ETS), Web-GIS, parcel mapping, and legal-administrative aspects.
- NAKSHA is a pilot programme by DoLR, in collaboration with Survey of India, National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSeDC), and 5 CoEs, across 27 States and 3 Union Territories (UTs).
Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav-2025
- Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav (RBSM) 2025 was celebrated on 29th May 2025 at CSIR–Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun.
- Aim: To promote intellectual property (IP) awareness under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.
Central Forensic Science Laboratory
- Union Home Minister, Amit Shah inaugurated the new Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata, built at ₹88 crore, to boost forensic capacity in eastern and northeastern states.
- The lab will support the new criminal laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – ensuring an evidence-based justice system.
- Narcotics Version 2.0 and Explosives Version 2.0 digital tools were launched to modernize forensic work.
- Govt to train 36,000 forensic experts annually via National Forensic Science University (NFSU); 16 campuses approved, 9 more NFSUs and 7 CFSLs planned.
- From January 2026, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) practices will be integrated at the police station level through a cluster-based model.
International Organisation for Mediation (IOMed)
- China and 33 countries signed the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organisation for Mediation (IOMed), headquartered in Hong Kong, to promote peaceful dispute resolution.
- As per Article 33 of the United Nations (UN) Charter, disputes can be resolved through peaceful means like mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and conciliation.
Operation Jal-Rahat 2
- Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Operation Jal-Rahat 2 rescued over 500 people, including children and elderly, from flood-hit Imphal East and West districts in Manipur.
- Ten relief columns with BAUTs and inflatable boats were deployed to key areas like Wangkhei, Heingang, Khurai, NIMS and Ahallup.
